Maxim on the Budget

It is odd that the Maxim Institute's Bruce Logan is so critical of the Government's belated move towards providing much needed assistance to Kiwi families.

Not only because Maxim is a champion of the family but also because Maxim lacks any serious alternative proposals of its own to help poorer families.

Income redistribution in favour of the less well off by means of taxation has a long and distinguished history. Maxim will find reference to it in the Bible in Deuteronomy 14:28-29.

Of course every taxpayer likes tax cuts which benefit themselves. But are we charitable enough to consider the needs of poor families before our own self interest ?
